I am a Chartered Institute of Tax (CIOT) qualified VAT advisor with over 30 years experience of working in the indirect taxes field. Initially working as part of assurance and fraud detection teams at HM Customs & Excise, I moved into ‘the profession’ in 1996 and ever since, have worked in senior management roles in predominantly Big Four tax teams but also at smaller firms both in the UK and Australia (during the federal government’s implementation in 2000 of a Goods & Services Tax).
