Thank you again for your support for KidsOut through attending the Question of Sport dinner, supporting the Giving Tree initiative or any other fundraising you may have done. KidsOut can only achieve its mission to bring fun and happiness to vulnerable children through the generous donations of companies and individuals like yourself.

However, the long-term survival of our work is at risk. The Coronavirus outbreak has forced KidsOut to cancel or postpone all Fundraising events over the next 3-6 months resulting in a loss of over £400k. With events making up over 50% of KidsOut’s cash income, this loss will be devastating for our children’s services. To put this into context, this income would have funded a minimum of 15,000 Fun Days out or 4,000 Toy Boxes for vulnerable children being rehomed. Quite simply, without cash donations KidsOut cannot support some of the UK’s most vulnerable children.
However, all hope is not lost. If half the guests that attended last year’s event signed up for a £10 direct debit for the next six months (averaging 30p a day), this would ensure KidsOut could maintain its services and continue to bring fun and happiness to children living through extreme difficulty at no fault of their own. While KidsOut supports children from a range of backgrounds, including those living with critical health issues, disabilities, or in economic hardship, some of our most vulnerable beneficiaries are children fleeing domestic abuse for the safety of a refuge. We are the only national charity focusing on the needs of children in refuge and work with every Women’s Aid refuge in the UK. Without intervention, only 26% of children relocated away from refuge won’t have turned to drugs or crime by the age of 18. However, with direct support from groups like KidsOut, 86% will not. KidsOut breaks the cycle, reminding children that someone does care.
At a time when many children will now be in quarantine in refuges across the country, they need our services more than ever to experience fun and happiness while living through extreme difficulty. As soon as the social distancing restrictions are lifted, we can get back to taking children on Fun Days out to theatres, cinemas, and other exciting activities beneficial the protection and preservation of a child’s welfare. COVID-19 will come to an end and when it does we need to make sure that we are in the best possible shape to get straight back to doing what we do best as the ‘fun and happiness’ charity: putting smiles on the faces of children.
