On Sunday 10th October, alongside the other KidsOut runners, I had the pleasure of taking part in the London Royal Parks Half Marathon.
The event had been delayed due to the pandemic since April, so after six long awaited months it was great to see such a turn out at the event – with over 10,000 runners taking part!
The run wound its way through London, starting on The Mall underneath Admiralty Arch. From there, the route meandered past some great sights including Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace before finishing on the South side of Hyde Park.
The atmosphere was fantastic from start to finish, with the inner-London roads fully closed and drummer bands seemingly popping up from nowhere every other kilometre!
KidsOut had also selected the perfect t-shirts for the event (see picture) as these were unquestionably the brightest clothes being worn by any of the runners on the course. As such, with every point on the route where you passed participants in the opposite direction, it was easy to spot another KidsOut runner and exchange a smile and wave.
By taking part with the backing of Claritas, I have been fortunate enough to raise £340 through this run, with KidsOut runners in total having raised £18,900 from this event!
The whole day was a fantastic experience and certainly one for the memory bank. I cannot thank everyone enough who has donated, with each and every donation making a real difference to every child helped by KidsOut.
