Who am I?
I’m a Tax Valuation Specialist with around 25 years’ experience (with a few breaks to travel – see below!). Prior to joining Claritas Birmingham in October 2018 I worked for a Big Four firm in Birmingham and Manchester, heading up their valuation practices. I started my career on the ‘other side’ at HMRC’s Shares and Assets Valuation before joining the world of professional services.
When I’m at work
I work exclusively on tax valuation projects for clients which usually arise as a result of a transaction or restructure, or where valuations are required as part of a share incentive scheme. Key to my role is understanding my clients’ business in depth and what drives its value. I undertake valuations across a wide range of sectors, so I enjoy the in-depth research this requires.
When I’m not at work
I live in the Lake District and I often work remotely so that I can indulge my passion for walking in the hills, having hung up my climbing shoes a while ago. Over the years I’ve indulged my passion for travel by taking some time out from the corporate world, I’ve been very lucky to visit countries such as Pakistan and Libya. I also love cooking and I am obsessed with cookery programmes – though I’m not planning on applying for Bake Off or MasterChef anytime soon!
