Who am I?

I am a Chartered Tax Advisor with over 25 years’ experience working mainly in Indirect Tax.  Having trained in the Big 4, I spent 15 years at Grant Thornton becoming a partner in 2012.  I then spent 4 years in an inhouse role at Markel Tax before coming to Claritas.

When I’m at work

I love problem solving, which means I really have to understand my clients and what keeps them up at night.  I want to be seen as part of the solution, not just an external cost that needs to be borne.  There is no better feeling than getting a great result for a client.

When I’m not at work

I’m married with 2 now grown up children who have both left home – I know, I don’t look old enough…  I enjoy running and golf, but my real passion is the works of Robert Burns.  January and February involve performing at a lot of Burns Suppers and I have had the pleasure of having performed at the Lord Provosts Burns Supper in Glasgow, the Mansionhouse in London and even in New York.  It’s not good for the waistline though!
