Claritas Tax, the UK’s leading independent tax advisory firm, with offices in Manchester, Birmingham, and Nottingham has promoted four experienced tax advisors with effect from 1st September 2023.
These key promotions demonstrate Claritas’ commitment to growing the business whenever possible from within its own ranks.
Ses Memhi and Sam Hart have been promoted to Partner:
Ses joined the Claritas family in January 2015 as employee number four, where he started as a Manager within Claritas’s Corporate and Transaction Taxes teams. He has enjoyed a great deal of success in building new relationships with various clients and contacts in the professional services and wider PE investment community over recent years, as well as leading Claritas’s Transactions Tax business and heading up our new Nottingham office.
Sam joined the firm in October 2020 and has rapidly built the Private Client team, increasing revenues in that service line sevenfold in that time, with further strong growth forecast for 2024. The Private Client team are also a finalist in this year’s prestigious Society of Tax and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Awards.
Caroline Walton has been promoted to Associate Partner:
Caroline joined Claritas in December 2020 and has overseen exceptional growth within the Innovations Taxes service line. The firm has created many strong relationships on the back of our success in claiming R&D tax relief and Patent Box claims for our clients and we look forward to continued growth within these areas during 2024.
Mark Cuppello has been promoted to Manager:
Mark was one of the firm’s Associates who joined the team in October 2020. He has recently completed his final ACA exam and is a crucial member of the R&D team, managing a number of key relationships with large R&D claims.

This is a key priority for us. I am very pleased to congratulate all four team members, who have consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and drive to their respective line of work and the clients we serve.”
Matt Hodgson, Partner and Head of Claritas’ Manchester office adds:“I’m delighted to welcome Ses and Sam to the partnership team at Claritas and absolutely delighted for Caroline and Mark who’ve both contributed hugely to the success of the Innovations Taxes service line. The beauty of being part of a rapidly growing business is the opportunities it can present to progress based on merit, which is clearly demonstrated here.”
