The role:
Our Innovations team led by Associate Partners, Caroline Walton and David Nolan, works across a broad range of clients in all sectors and on various projects.
Due to the continued growth of the firm and our growing service line, we are looking for a Manager to join us in one of our offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Glasgow or Bristol. You will be supported by Caroline and David, who have almost 20years’ experience and the wider Claritas team. However, we would be looking for someone with the following background and experience:
- Minimum of four years’ experience in Innovation Tax Reliefs, gained either in practice, in industry or a mixture of both;
- CTA and / or ACA qualified;
- Experience of preparing a claim for R&D Tax Relief from beginning to end including the writing of technical narratives, analysis of R&D expenditure, calculation of the tax benefit and completion of tax computations and CT600.
- Experience of Patent Box Tax Relief, including analysing IP portfolios, calculating the Patent Box benefit, advising on the time to elect in and preparing a claim for Patent Box tax relief.
- Experience working with companies of all sizes, from start-ups to large companies/groups.
- Strong project management skills;
- Interest in the development of junior staff members including new graduates;

This is an opportunity to not only support more experienced team members in the preparation of claims for R&D Tax Relief and Patent Box Tax Relief but also lead claims and gain experience in other areas such as R&D compliance checks, company/IP structuring and R&D claims evaluation in the context of tax due diligence before company acquisition.
This role is full-time and hybrid office/home working. We will consider flexible working arrangements.
Only those applicants who have a legal right to work in the UK and have an appropriate amount of practical relevant UK tax experience, as outlined above, will be considered for this role.
